'Altissimum ac pretiosum' - The Vienna Cathedral Lodge and Late Medieval Sacrament House Design in East Central Europe

In 1999, Achim Timmermann published an article in Umění about Gothic sacrament houses, inspired by Parler's work, in the Church of St Bartholomew in Kolín nad Labem and the Church of St Sebaldus in Nuremberg. The present article is a continuation of that study. It treats the tabernacles in Vienna, Wrocław, Levoča, Bardejov and Košice that followed on from Parler's legacy. The author concentrates on the marble tabernacle, not preserved, that was the work of the St Stephen's workshop in Vienna.
