Zur Problematik der Prager Parlerarchitektur

The aim of this study is to attempt to penetrate deeper to the heart of the architecture of St Vitus Cathedral and to the nature of the unique creative personality of Peter Parler. The focus of the article is the interpretation of the three phases of Parler's architectural work. The first phase represents the architect's artistic beginnings, connected with the building of the church in Gmünd, Swabia. The second phase touches upon the historical traits of the church of St Bartholomew in Kolín nad Labem. And the third phase is focused on the building of the walls of the high choir in the St Vitus Cathedral and the royal chapel of all saints. The analysis of the wall of the high choir is also the focus of the accompanying excursus.
