Donátor v nizozemském malířství 16. století: Persona non grata? Zamalované postavy donátorů na nizozemských obrazech z českých sbírek

The figure of the donator in the painting Twelve-year-old Jesus found in the cathedral from the palace picture gallery in Opočno from a successor of Hieronymus Bosch was, for unknown reasons, painted over. According to the author, this work probably had the function of an epitaph. Pointing to other examples - such as the triptych The Adoration of Three Kings from Joos von Cleve - the author shows how paintings were corrected according to the needs of the time and wishes of the owners. The article's conclusion is devoted to the painting Fountain of Life from the Master of the Fountain of Life, who was spared interventions disturbing the original concept.
