Třeboňský manifest Roberta Piesena

The artist wrote the Třeboň manifesto in 1962. It is unclear whether the title refers to the location of the text's writing or to the work of the Master of the Třeboň alter, to which Piesen had a certain connection. The author speaks of the meaning the manifesto held for him and mentions that he took it with him when he later emigrated and preserved it along with other writings. The written programme tells of the artist's concept of the painting, from which he basically never strayed. Piesen makes a case for a transcendental approach to structural painting, with stress on meditational values which he considers to be fundamental.
