The Sculpture Donations of Jiří Pruskovský from Pruskov. Commentary on Renaissance in the Czech Lands

The author focuses on the works of sculpture which Jiří Pruskovský had made for his castle in Staré Hrady. The main work is an alter of Saint John the Baptist from 1582, found in the castle chapel and inspired by the alter of Saint John the Baptist in the Týn Cathedral in Prague, the work of an artist with initials IP. Other works created on order for Pruskovský are two busts of emperors Ferdinand I and Maximilian II, which - together with the unpreserved bust of Charles V and Rudolf II - were most likely placed in the niches above the main gate of the castle. The end of the article contains a mention of the epitaph, which Jiří Pruskovský had built in Saint Vitus Cathedral for his brother Jakub in 1567.
