Mariánský oltářík svatovítského pokladu a gotické obrazy katedrály

The article treats the small wooden altar with the central motifs of the birth of Christ and the death of the Virgin Mary. In the older literature on the subject, this work was dated to the end of the 16th century. The author draws attention to certain unusual iconographic motifs and the formal aspects of the altar and demonstrates that it is a Gothic work, made almost two centuries earlier. In this context, the article analyses other Gothic works in the inventories of St Vitus Cathedral.
