Der Prager hl. Wenzel von Peter Parler - Fortsetzung eines hundertjährigen Diskurses mit neuen Argumenten

The statue of St Wenceslas from St Vitus Cathedral is one of the most famous Bohemian medieval sculptures. Originally it was intended for the stone tabernacle in the buttressing system above the chapel, where it stood from the Baroque to the mid 19th century. On the basis of new restoration research, it is clear that the idea of placing the work in the St Wenceslas Chapel predates the commencement of the wall paintings from the era of Charles IV, between 1366 and 1372.
