Czech New Architecture and Cubism

The article offers a new perspective on Czech pre-war architecture, referred to as cubist architecture. It demonstrates that it had few features in common with cubism. The primary drive behind it was the attempt to approach a universal creativity, most often embodied by the crystal. The study treats the connection between this style of architecture and expressionism. It attempts to move the style from the artistic periphery, to which it is relegated when interpreted from a certain perspective, and place it in the centre of the European search for a new architecture.
