The article maps out the lives of Czech painters in Paris in the 1920s. It not only illuminates their exhibitions in the local galleries but also considers the reactions to their work in the French journals of the day. Among the numerous Czech artists living in Paris were Jiří Kars, František Zdeněk Eberl, Alois Bílek, Jan Matulka či Věra Jičínská.
