The article contains selections from the diary of Johann Adolf from Schwarzenberg, which he kept during his first trip to England. This nobleman is responsible for the construction of the new castle at Hluboká, the mausoleum in Třeboň, as well as other buildings in the Czech and Austrian lands. His main activities were concentrated in the area of economy, which is confirmed in the leitmotif of his British travelogue: steal production. Aside from admiration of technical achievements, the diaries also include descriptions of monuments, aristocratic residences and cities which the young nobleman visited. These entries make up the majority of the published selection.
