At the beginning of this article, the author highlights several key facts concerning the construction of the tower of St Vitus Cathedral. Subsequently, she reconstructs the look of the tower before a fire in 1541, interprets its importance in the overall composition of the southern front, and deals with its style and possible authorship of the individual parts.
